I went to leave from work, started my car, but the gear didn't move into reverse or any gear. They had to tow my car to the shop and it is there now, has this ever happened to anyone? My car had been running perfectly fine and I've never had any problems with it. I am so worried it is something serious. any advice would be appreciated.

i own a repair shop and its nothing too serious it has a lock out switch on the brake pedal that has went out, its common on fords for this to go out,but this switch allows it to be shifted out of the park position, its not a real expensive repair though,i have replaced a lot of those before, they have had the same type switch now for several years,it works good when it works, and when it doesn't,you don't get to drive it,but this shouldn't cost too much to get repaired, good luck,i hope this helps.

Sounds to me like it was completely out of transmission fluid. If you've recently had the transmission serviced they may have put it back together using the old transmission pan gasket causing all the fluid to leak out the bottom.

If the fluid is okay, the driveshaft maybe disconnected somehow or the differential gears destroyed.

The transmission. I love my Fords but they always seem to have transmission trouble. I've always been able to have problems before the warranty ran out.

Good luck :)

Could be a few different things standard or automatic? I would have the gear box checked out. Ask a mechanic and go from there.

It's a simple fix.
There's a switch on the brake pedal that releases the shift lever when you press on the brake pedal.

It's faulty.
