I don't know what's wrong with you, but I thought you might find even a little comfort in my experience. I used to have 'daydreams' or 'imagine' (I used to say visions but I think these sound a little more stable or something) that I would turn into a skeleton (skin and all melting away) and then stab myself with a knife where my heart would've been. They happened at times I wasn't suicidal, too. I was still depressed, though. (Are you? They might be related.) Medications didn't seem to help, but they eventually started to become fewer and now I haven't had any for awhile. I do take lithium still, but the other meds that were supposed to help cause a lot of problems for me.
Hope this helps. I found a little comfort with things knowing I wasn't alone.
You might want to talk to a professional anyways. They might not have all the answers but if you can find a name for it you could look it up yourself.

If you believe in reincarnation, perhaps you have sub-consciously accessed a previous death - in which case, it has already happened and so is nothing for you to worry about now.
You might have "tuned-in on" someone in real life and real time who was going through this.
Such an experience happened to my late husband. We were leaving a theater after seeing a movie when he stopped suddenly on the sidewalk beside our parked car and gasped loudly. He had the strangest look on his face, so I asked him what was wrong.
He said he had just experienced the mental image of a bullet entering the back of his head! He was not physically injured in any way, so clearly it was not a real, on-the-spot occurrance. It frightened me because I thought it could be a premonition and the idea of losing him was unbearable.
When we approached our own neighborhood, we noticed a lot of flashing lights and police activity. We learned that someone had been shot in the back of the head while leaving a restaurant about half a block from our home AT PRECISELY THE SAME TIME my husband had his strange experience.
It is not psychic mumbo-jumbo to state that the human brain is a sending and receiving unit. EEG (Electro-encephalograph) machines actually MEASURE brain waves.
We KNOW that the brain sends out these waves, so why is it such a stretch for most of us to believe that we can receive them as well?
WHy, indeed? Because we USUALLY don't receive those signals on a conscious level. In the late - and not-so-great - Soviet Union, psychic research was a subject taken quite seriously. An experiment of particular interest was performed in which two human subjects were wired to EEG machines in two different cities many miles apart. Subject A was told to look at a picture and "send" the image to subject B. Subject B never consciously "got" the image, but at the precise moment of the transmission, B's EEG reading was EXACTLY THE SAME as A's.
What does this show us? It shows us that mental "broadcasts" ARE received - even if only on a sub-conscious level.
Why do they not "come through' consciously?
There is no solid set of facts available to explain this, so it is anybody's guess. MY OWN guess is that there are two factors involved:
1. Most of us have too much "white noise" or background static to receive other peoples' mental broadcasts.
2. And perhaps the more believable possibility - each of us "broadcasts" on a different frequency. I believe that my husband's mind just coincidentally or accidentally happened to cross frequencies with the murder victim for a split second at that one critical moment. If that is the explanation for your experience, then you inadvertantly did the same thing with someone else.

Have you watched anything on TV or in the movies lately relating to suffocation? I remember when all the Andrea Yates stuff was on TV that I would have visions of killing my son, and NO I WOULD NEVER EVER DO THAT!!!!! But it even made me so sick that I threw up and cried. Could that be a possibility?

Are you under a lot of stress? Are you tired? Are you in a relationship (friends included) that leave you feeling suffocated? I wouldn't worry about it if it was only happening for one day. If it continues you may be suffering from anxiety. If you feel like hurting yourself, call a suicide prevention number immediately. BTW. I love your screen name.

It's normal to have visions like that- of driving off the road into the ditch or falling off the bridge etc. Don't worry about such worries, they are just your natural way of protecting yourself. I think that your strong reaction to the vision kept you having it throughout the day.
