Immediately following the 9-11-01 'terrorist' attacks, several prominent Saudi families were escorted out of the U.S.A. on private government planes. They'd been in Washington, DC attending an investors' meeting of the Carlyle Group, an organization that former President George H.W. Bush had joined after leaving office.

I suspect the Bush administration orchestrated (or at least knew about) plans for the 9-11 attack so that it would give our government reason to invade Iraq. George W. Bush wanted to invade Iraq for three really lame reasons:
1) His family had a personal vendetta against Saddam Hussein ever since the days of Desert Storm when George H.W. Bush was humiliated, ridiculed and criticized for not 'finishing the job' and ousting Hussein at that time;
2) Dick Cheney and his oil buddies coveted all that cheap, easily-accessible OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so they could get richer and richer and richer feeding America's addiction to OIL;
3) The giant U.S. military-industrial complex needed a new 'war' to boost its sagging profits. Ever since World War II, industrialists have recognized how profitable 'war' can be, so they bought up all the politicians, hired pricey lobbyists, and formed special interest groups to promote and encourage more 'war'. Thus, the U.S. was thrust into the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; the Cold War; Vietnam; and Desert Storm - all for PROFIT, at any cost in human lives.
binLaden and his band of rag-tag terrorists have little to do with the destruction of the United States. He is simply a scapegoat - and his movement gives Bush reason to go to war and create all kinds of havoc in this world just so that his family and their associates can gain more power and wealth. Yes, Bush is destroying the world as we know it.
Consider the five top 'terrorists' in the past 75 years:
1) Joseph Stalin slaughtered 10 million of his countrymen and died peacefully in his sleep;
2) Adolph Hitler gassed 6 million Jews (and others he considered 'undesirable') and committed suicide before he could be brought to justice;
3) Idi Amin killed 2 million people in Uganda and retired comfortable in exile;
4) Saddam Hussein killed over a million Iraqis and was sentenced to be hanged, thanks to a Bush-administration 'puppet' government hastily installed in Iraq;
5) George W. Bush has killed 675,000 innocent Iraqis, 3,000 innocent people who were in the Twin Towers on 9-11-01, and 3,200 U.S. soldiers without being held accountable for any of his murderous actions.
