I would think you could have a very nice time on $200 per day. You could easily spend less than half that if you wanted.

A 24 hour bus pass is only $2.50 off the strip & $5 on > If you travel light you can even save a few bucks on cab fare and catch the bus from McCarran. The #108 Paradise & #109 Maryland Pkwy both pick up at the airport. You should not have to wait longer than 5 minutes for one or the other. You can generally count on a half hour wait to catch a cab and if you arrive at a busy time that can easily stretch to over an hour, duting big events and busy weekends I have heard of waits of over 2 hours. With all of the free shuttles and public transportation a car isn't really necessary.

You almost always have to be a registered hotel guest to get their "funbook" - it would be a major waste of vacation time to go around to 50 hotels asking for a free funbook, because you might get one or two out of the fifty.
two places that do have great coupons are the America Casino Guide and the Las Vegas Advisor's POV> You can take a look at the coupons that are available on the web site above. The LVA site also has daily printable coupons.

I go to Vegas fairly often since it's only a 5 hour drive. If you plan on drinking a lot then that can get REALLY expensive.
One thing you can do is buy your alcohol at a store and making your own drinks. You can carry your drinks on the strip without any problem. That is one way to save money.
Plan on bringing comfortable shoes to walk in because you will be doing a lot of it. Walking up and down the strip really is one of the more fun parts of Vegas. The people watching is probably the best you will find anywhere. And ignore the "immigrants" that are snapping their little porn strip club cards. They are everywhere.
I've stayed at several places on the strip and the best location is in the middle. The hotels are a little older, but the rooms are fine for what they are for and that is getting a little sleep, and changing your clothes.
Food choices are pretty basic mostly all the hotel have some sort of a buffet type restaurant. They are good in the morning you can load up on a big breakfast that will hold you through most of the day. Some of them can be a little expensive so maybe call a couple hotels and check the prices.
Pretty much everything is more expensive but if you are not really into gambling then just walking around and checking out all the hotels is really fun. The more expensive ones are the greatest to check out. The Bellagio has a really cool arboretum that they decorate every season that is incrediable, and a must see also their water show out front is awesome. A lot of the hotels have things that are free to check out and look at. Treasure Island has a pirate show right outside the hotel that is cool to watch, the MGM has the lions, The Flamingo has a bird habitat, New York New York is also a hotel to check out.
There are really a ton of fun and inexspensive things to do in Vegas.
You can rent a car but you will mostly just be sitting in traffic the whole time. I have never seen a scooter rental place but they might have them. I seriously doubt it though. They would be to easy to steal and pawn.
Below I listed a great wesite that has a ton of good deals and info about stuff do do in Vegas.
Have fun, and Stay safe!

I usually tell people to budget about $1000.00 per person for five days. That includes hotel cost. You can find hotels in the $40-$50 a night range, however these are at the older casinos (like the Sahara) and generally include a mandatory Thurs, Fri AND Sat night stay or they are in the "older" section of the Vegas strip and not really safe to be out at night. Cost also depends upon what convention is in town. Average about 150.00 a day at least for a hotel. Also do not use room service. A friend of mine stayed at the Rio and ordered a pizza thru room service. A large pepperoni pizza delivered to their room was $70.00.
I would NOT recommend renting a scooter as the Strip traffic is insane. You can rent a car if you plan on going off Strip however there is a bus system, but it is not what you would expect from a major city. The duce runs the strip 24/7 and costs $5.00 a day for all day per person. These buses are generally packed with standing room only from about 2pm until around 8pm. As for using the bus system off strip, you will need to take the duce to DTC (the main terminal) and then take another bus elsewhere or you will need to generally walk about a half block to several blocks off the strip to catch an off strip bus, if they show up. These routes can run from every 10 minutes to every hour, if they are on time or if they show up at all.
There are always deals for meals. Meals can range from $4.99 for steak and eggs to $50.00 a meal for dinner depending upon what you want.
Also, to get in to see just about anything (i.e. the Stratosphere) plan on paying premium prices. Just to ride the elevator to the top of the Stratosphere is $9.95 per adult. Just to get into the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton is Admission for "Star Trek: The Experience -- Secrets Unveiled" is $31.99 with the purchase of a ride ticket, or $39.99 for a single tour ticket. Just for a single ride on the rollercoaster at the Sahara is $10.00 per adult for a 45 second ride with an all day pass being $22.00. The cost to see a good show generally starts for about $75.00 per adult for general seating however you can get buy one/get one for some shows but right now I can't remember the name of the place but it is at the "Fashion Show" mall on the strip.
And you will also want to buy a few souvenirs!

You won't need a car unless you want to drive to Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon. Summer rates are alot cheaper, airfare, lodging, etc. Plan on enough money to see some good shows, eat and go shopping. You can get reasonable lodging and meals because Vegas casinos make their money from people gambling. Try Vegas specials, Cheap Seats, Expedia, Air Gorilla, Travelocity...

I would bring about $300 in cash but that would depend on how long you're staying. The $300 I suggested could last anywhere from 3 to 5 days.
There are several websites to find deals.
-TripRes.com
-Expedia.com
-Vegas.com
-Cheaptickets.com
You don't need a car or scooter unless you want to travel outside the strip. Most people walk or take cabs.

vegas.com . you can rent little electric golf carts right at the end of the strip i think it is . you want at least 100 a day for room more often 200 and then your food, you can eat fairly cheap in some places but still it adds up, if you want free drinks, sit down at a slot machine and wait for a coctail girl to come by, she will get you what you want and just tip her a buck. cheaper than the drinks in the bars that go from 5 to ten bucks.

First of all you will not need to rent a car. Public Transportation is the way to go. Most hotels will give you coupon booklets but you might have to ask for them. Being that you don't gamble you should need no more than 150 a day. that should cover drinks and meals.

$100 a day plus a credit card for meals
Don't rent a car unless you are going away from the strip, use public transportation.
Look in the coupon book they give you, you should get a day trip to Laughlin for $5...do it and take the riverboat cruise to hear the history of Laughlin.
