Well, mainly speaking, spirituality/religion and sex should not be mixed. After deep conversations with my husband of twelve years, I can answer the following:
Yes, he had an adolescent experience;
That experience I am certain made him wonder at times if it happened because he might be gay;
It is possible for a man to appreciate a "good lookin dude" and not want to top him? certainly;
Something may have made this issue arise, but your comment, I never suspected this of him, is more a statement of belief of your adviser.
Who do you know and trust more? Ask him about it. Have you ever looked at another girl and thought, geez, she has really pretty hair, or beautiful eyes? Of course you have, and then did you go home and dream about having intercourse with her?
It's being observant, and open about the thoughts and feelings you have.
It seems he is being punished for being open about any thoughts or feelings he may have had and now carries a label.
My straight husband and I have been very open about any thoughts or concerns, we have a great relationship and I can only hope that you believe in him and how he feels about you after you discuss it with him. By the way - expect him to be offended if being gay is not an issue.

When you are an adolescent, your hormones are driving you crazy with sex and curiosity. If a same sex encounter happens, it probably doesn't have a whole lot to do with love and attraction. It works both ways. Lots of gay men have had sex with women in their teens, and they aren't straight.
Is it possible for a straight man to be attracted to another man and not act on it? Yes. It's called being in the closet or latent. There are plenty of gay men with wife, kids, etc. that have never had sex with a man because they refuse to face their true selves.

One gay encounter does not make a person gay. I think roughly 99% of boys have some type of same sex encounter when they are growing up. Whether it was comparing size, or watching each other spank it, or checking out the other guys in the locker room, or whatever. This does not make them gay. Unless your spiritual advisor KNOWS something about your man, he should keep his thoughts to himself rather than causing problems in your realtionship by suggesting this.

That's probably pretty accurate data. Usually, those pubescent encounters are just a matter of learning and experimentation; not true emotional bonds of any kind. And it's also correct that a lot of men have unrealized fantasies; things they wouldn't admit to. Such is the nature of sexual fantasy.

I doubt this very strongly. A book my wife checked out of the library once was written by gay men about their discovery of being gay and their coming out of the closet. ALL of them had sexual encounters with men in their teenage (or younger) years. Don't try to tell me that this type of experience does not have a massive influence on a man's sexuality.

I would play doctor with anybody as a kid just discovering what sex was, then ended up heterosexual like the majority of people. I don't think people 'choose' their orientation (not that there's anything wrong with that) but I suspect that if one avenue of expression is closed, as in prison, people will resort to the partners that are available (but let's not talk about barnyard animals, please).

I must be in that 25%, as I've neither been attracted to, nor associated with homosexuals ever in my life. I find them awkward to be around, and would readily avoid their presense whenever possible.
People are just easily confused by those who have already decided to be homosexual, much like a pedophile manipulates a child into having sex with them.
