He doesn't drink and has never eaten much, especially now as he has diabetes since one year. He was skinny, but as his stomach started to grow his body had to adjust to the wight. It is weird, because his stomach feels very hard as it is going to explode. What might be the reson for this?

Oh, and another thing he has gone through several examinations, and has not been diagnosed, they say the augmention might be due to high stress levels. May be his bone is prone to this as he what diagnosed with diabetes a few motns after he had a major car accident. He had to take insulin, however one year later he is off the insuline and only sticks to a strict diet to keep suger levels within the limit. I don't believe his weight problem arises from eating habits or lack of exercise. He is going for a exray check soon, we fear it might be some kind of cist.

Pay close attention. He may be eating more than you think. And he should start doing situps or crunches to tighten that stomach in a little bit. If he drinks sugary sodas all day, then he isn't losing any weight. One 20 oz bottle of coke has something like 300 calories in it. If he drinks a couple of these a day, he will never lose that gut. Fruit juice is the same way. And alcoholic beverages.

What many people don't realize is as they get older their metabolism slows down. You simply cannot eat the way you ate when when you were 17 as you do when you are 47.

I find it very difficult to believe that your dad eats very little with a stomach that large. It doesn't make sense. Even if he does eat little now, the effects of his past grotesque, unhealthy eating habits are going to be difficult if not impossible to correct without surgery

He may be eating little now, but what is he eating? This is important.

Here is the thing, your dads metabolism is slowing down, the more he wants to exercise the more it wont show, your dad has established some bad eating habits and has a poor diet. As we get older our body wants to slow down, 47 isnt old but its about the time we want to slow down, i would talk to his doctor and get some good habits started better late then never! Good Luck! Besides (bigger stomach more of him to love!)

Sounds like your dad is headed towards heart disease.. Have him see his MD. and start a weight loss program. do it gradually.. at 47. he didn't get this way overnight and it will take time to lose it. I'm surprised he doesn't have high blood pressure and sleep apnea.
