So, if the downfalls of forcing the imperialists out is known and is obviously detrimental to a country, why does it happen and why do leftists promote it. Do they like human suffering?

Liberalism is a mental disorder. Liberals would rather see people starve than have the so-called "white-elite" make a single dollar while assisting improvished citizens of the world. Apparently it's wrong to make a profit while providing a service. Yet libs are all for corporate handouts from corporate profits. The libs will then say that because the "Imperialist" left a vacuum of power they are worse off today than had they been left alone.

Imperialists abandoned Rhodesia which became Zimbabwe? Ha, that's a good one! After the govt was forced out of power the new leaders seized white owned farms and turned them into what they are now, shantytown slums. Zimbabwe is now competing with Haiti to be the worst economy in the world.

The imperialists create a power structure, then abandon it in place, creating a power vacuum. The strongest force will fill that vacuum. These are usually the people with all the weapons. Then you have a military dictatorship.

The imperial power is usually there only to exploit a resource and care little about the people except as labor, such British east India co. etc. the infrastructure is only designed to support the resource exploitation. not to give power to local populace as a matter of fact it is to ensure that the local populace is as unempowered as possible it keeps labor costs down.

Because, during decades or centuries of external rule, the people of those countries never had the opportunity to develop the skills they would need to self-govern effectively and peacefully.

They blame it all on the imperialistic white man. The fact is they "just can't cut it"! You know many still actually believe and even preach that they deserve better treatment here?

Because many of the borders of african nations were drawn across tribal lines, or they grouped several differeing tribes together in one area. Therefore you have groups of people who dont want to live with each other but confined in the area none the less. (See Iraq but usually smaller land area)
