They theoretically could, but they probably won't. And even if they did, what would they be but a sacrificial lamb of the no.1 seed? They would be much better off adding another good young player to their team through the draft.

Too far back, too late in the season. One of the NY area teams, the Knicks or the Nets, will be the 8th, and the other will be out.
