I believe Maradona was the best player because he took two teams (Argentina and Napoli) on his shoulders and won championships and cups. In both those teams he was by far the best player and there were Maradona and 10 other players.
Pele, Beckenbauer, Platini and Zidane were great players surrounded by other good players in their teams, they gave their team the little extra to win but not the kind of help Maradona gave to his teams. George Best is a legend but the fact that he stopped playing very young doesnt give me a good reason to say he's the best, however i believe he was the most talented player of all...

Pele all known everywhere at the age of 17 he was already playing with Brazil, he won 4 world cups and score the most goals, he was unstopable.
Maradona consider by many the next best player always compare to Pele, his dribbling skills made him be feared by many gave argentina the world cup in Mexico 86 with the famouse "la mano de Dios"
Franz Beckenbauer, he has all heart in the field, great #4 for Germany the great captain that never left his team down, played even though he was hurt.
Zinedine Sidane #10 for france gave them one world cup and almost two if he would of not lost his head.

Beckenbauer. All the others have negatives. Maradona was a cheater who played handball not football. Pele sold out playing in the US. Zidane headbut. Beckenbauer is better than platini.

None of them. The best football player who ever lived was Jerry Rice. Just look at the stats. Just look at the durability. Just look at the performances in championship play. Don Hutson, a good candidate for the greatest receiver and even the greatest player ever up until the 1980s, said Rice was a better receiver, and that was well before Rice started approaching any records.

The guys you mentioned? They don't play football. Well, maybe Zidane.
