I'm 32 weeks, i haven't lost it yet, i was just curious to know whether you should call the midwife if it happens quite early

After loosing your mucous plug you will probably go into labor within 48 hours, give or take a few. However, some people often mistake loosing their mucous plug for regular discharge that comes late during pregnancy. If you are sure if was the mucous plug and you don't experience the beginning of labor within the next two days you may want to call your doctor. Every labor is different - so no need to worry!

I went into labor about 3 days after losing the plug. But it can happen anytime between 48 hours to a week later or some times longer.

Only lost the 'plug' with my first pregnancy-and I went into labour a week to the day after losing it.

It's not a problem infection wise or anything-it's when the waters have broken you've got to be a bit more pro-active-but even then, unless you're contracting don't panic-when my waters broke with my third (they had to be broken with my first two) I still had 15 hours before I needed to be admitted(although you should check in with the delivery suite by phone when they break).

There is no correct way to answer this question because everybody is different. FYI: your water breaking is not the same thing as losing your mucus plug. Once you lose your mucus plug though there is no telling when you are gonna go into labor. It could be any time from a couple hours to a couple weeks. Myself; I never even lost mine before I went into labor so you never know! Good Luck!!!

I think they say you can expect to go into labor within 24 hours of losing your mucous plug. Most women do not even know when it happens. Only one of my four births was it noted.

It was 8 days for me but everyone is different. Losing your plug means things are starting to happen, but not imminent.

Good Luck!

my labour started before the mucus plug so get your bag ready - I would phone the midwife as we were told as soon as the mucus plug came go straight to hospital. good luck,
