Will be moving to Orlando. I heard it is hardley gets hit by bad hurricanes. The last one, I know of was Charley, it seemed pretty strong for a" Orlando" hurricane. How many hurricanes have hit Orlando in the past 10yrs? I also hear tornados are crazy there. I luv Florida, and cant wait to move there. But, people keep telling me of all the dangers!

Orlando doesn't get hit by hurricanes badly very often. Before Charlie in 2004, Hurricane David hit the city pretty hard in 1979. Orlando is far enough inland that storms are fairly weak by the time they hit the city. Even Charlie, the worst by far in my lifetime, didn't do much damage to Orlando compared to Punta Gorda.

I have been through dozens of hurricanes here in Florida. I was in Orlando for Charlie and 3 others that hit within that same month. The only bad thing that I suffered from hurricanes is loss of electricity for a few days and not being able to drive anywhere until the traffic lights are working and the debris is cleared from the streets. If you're worried about danger in Florida, you should worry about retired Northerners who move here to get out of the snow, lightning... and of course, rattlesnakes. Alligators will pretty much leave you alone if you don't feed them, but they will eat your pets.

There is no area in Florida exempt from hurricanes. I think www.intellicast.com can show you the paths of hurricanes over the last 40 years or so. If not, google it. Besides the dangers don't forget the high cost of housing, high cost of living, homeowners insurance is becoming a nightmare for residents and the snowbird traffic will almost send you over the edge no matter what part you live in. I can't wait to get out! :(
