I would rather have a few nice pieces as long as I could mix and match them to make many outfits. But until I have the money to buy those really nice pieces I will take the inexpensive clothing for now.
Really I guess it just depends on where you are in life. If you change your wardrobe every time a new style or trend comes around the inexpensive stuff is what you want. If you are a little older or you have a particular way of dressing that has not changed much over the years spend the extra money for items that will last for years to come.

You can have clothing of lesser quality that still looks fabulous. So I would pick more clothing of lesser quality. You just need to know where to shop and to look for sales. Thats why I have so many clothes. I am not spoiled. I take $50 and spend it like a jewish woman at market.

That depends.
I invest a lot in staple pieces like jackets, suits, a good pair of jeans, classic pumps, etc.
However, more everyday things like t-shirts, out-and-about jeans, button down shirts, I'll go to places like H&M for and not spend a lot.
Everyone needs to invest in staple pieces because you want them to fit you like a glove, and that usually requires paying more. However, you need a variety of other clothes so you can mix and match the staple pieces, and you don't have to go super cheap (like Wal-mart), but you don't have to spend a fortune, either.
The best thing to remember is that you should only buy things you absolutely love. If you're only so-so on it, think about it for a few days, and then decide. Impulse shopping usually leads to bad purchases.

Both. It's great to have core pieces in your wardrobe of value. But sometimes you want to splurge on an item that is trendy or isn't versatile, so you should pay less. Why spend $450 on a dress you will only wear twice in your lifetime?

i would rather have quality than quantity. i tend to buy classic styles that really don't change with the trends and then mix in lower cost, items for fun.
i usually buy a variety. i have very nice pants, jackets, etc. that will last for awhile and mix in cheaper t-shirts, etc. from places like old navy.
