No it sounds like "Liar" and "Lycra" which makes me think of ugly neon colored spandex workout pants!

I like it. Besides Lyra is a beautiful constellation, where the start Vega is the alpha. And a musical instrument. So, Lyra is kind of poetic. But I prefer the pronunciation "leera".

Yes, I like it. I thought I heard that name used on the television show Without a Trace this weekend. Anyway, its a nice name and its the name of a star.

Wow I have never heard this name before for a girl. I looked it up and saw that it means "harp". It seems like a pretty name and I love unique names so I say go ahead with it!

It sounds a bit to much like liar to me.
So consider the teasing that kids are oh so famous for, and how that might effect your daughter.
This is your choice to make on her behalf.
I am not a big fan of adults who give their kids odd names without considering the consequence.
Ultimately the choice is yours.

why do you want to name your child something that they will ALWAYS have to pronounce for everyone? It is a pretty name, but don't do that to her. You can come up with a different sounding name that everyone can pronounce if you think about it for awhile.

It's a pretty word but I don't know about name...hopefully she can likes stars cause if she doesn't that'd be awkward.
