Sophie,

There are actually explanations for each of the things you've mentioned. They would be lengthy to completely describe here, but I will abbreviate the best I can and point you to a more extensive reference.

In general, the first thing you should know is that there is another way of viewing cave men, dinosaurs, and the ice age. All three do fit into an intelligent design, or Creationist model. It is important to know that we all work from the same facts. We all have the fossils, the DNA, and the current observable changes in our world. The difference is whether you assume from the beginning that it was designed, or occured by chance. Neither position is directly provable scientifically. Ours is to observe and test, and adjust. That is scienctific. So far, since Charles Darwin's 'Origin of the Species' was published, we have not seen anything that builds truly upon evolution as the end all truth. In fact, there are discoveries that refute such a claim.

Cavemen:
The idea that cavemen are primitive is not based on particular evidence. It is a notion that has taken hold because of evolutionary thought. (Helped in no small part by the Geico commercials) :) People who lived in caves used tools, created art, exhibited signs of civilization, and so forth. There is no reason that they had to be a sub-human group of barbarians. In fact, there are references to cave dwellers in the bible, as well as other historic texts. Here is a well referenced article about it.(1)

Dinosaurs:
Dinosaurs are simply another animal in the fossil record. They don't even cover 5% of the fossil record. Most of the fossils we have are plants and invertabrates. The reason I say that is just to illustrate that they are an animal like all of the others. They have captured our imaginations, and rightfully so. They certainly are wondrous because of the size of some of them, and the fact that except for a few examples, we just don't have large reptiles like that anymore! Jurassic Park would be amazing! :) Here are a couple of things that can explain the dating used to age these fossils and bones. (2, 3) And one more concerning the possibility of dinosaurs living with humans. (4)

Ice Age:
I don't know if the Ice Age was discovered exactly. The idea was put forth based on observations. And if you're asking whether an Ice Age is possible without believing in evolution, then yes it certainly is. Here is a list of references to articles discussing that idea. I tried to comb through them to pick out some direct information, but it was hard to narrow down. Nonetheless, you'll find a great deal of basic to very technical information on ice ages and glaciers and the like.(5)

I hope that this response leads you to the information you're looking for. I'm not suggesting that you immediately accept the idea of intelligent design based on my response to your question. Read and research what you want to know on both sides. Ignore the mud-slinging in the forums and chat channels. Both sides of the debate have hate-wielding people that are not concerned with learning the truth, but more with vehemently putting forth their belief.

As a final thought, I would also say that there is not magic bullet out there for either side. Ours is to look at the data we have, and see which model fits better. If we could truly observe what happened, then the debate wouldn't be happening.

Good luck, and God Bless!

I am sure the religious fundamentalists have got an answer for this. But evolution is the obvious reason not only from the ancient things mentioned but much more recent observations made by scientists over the last couple of hundred years. Also the changes in bacteria and the like in very short periods of time which only mirrors the evolutional changes in the higher orders.

Well, they can't. I noticed the answer above mine says 'you may offend people's religion' - well, if it's wrong it's wrong, right?

Religion is either a hypothesis about the way the world works (i.e. creationism) in which case it should be deliberately dismantled to see if it works (it has been, and it doesn't) - or, it's knowingly false and you can't question it because you'll offend people, even though they are admitting that the whole thing is a bold-faced lie.

I simply do not understand the logic there.

There are still people who live in caves !
What's the issue with dinosaurs. Creationists know they existed. In fact there are many accounts of dinosaurs (aka dragons)
Did you know that dinosaur bones have been found with red blood cells - hardly 65 million years old!

If you are really interested then check out here ofr loads of detailed information on these topics. Once you examine the evidence you may realise that it is evolutionists who have the difficult questions to answer!

I cant answer this question as I "Know" about evolution (I don't have "belief's you see).

Faith is only "guesswork" in motion.

If MAN really is the result of "Intelligent Design" then , looking around me, I don't reckon much to the so called "intelligence" that did the designing.

An environmental contaminant led to a genetic mutation that in part reactivated the unique layout that gave the snake ft (did no longer Genesis say that God cursed the serpent by using removing its legs?). or in keeping with risk that environmentally-inspired genetic mutation altered the snake's genetic shape in considered one of those way that it displayed a characteristic of a distinctive species/animal that God additionally created. after all, if God created the construction blocks of existence, then that's sensible to think of he would use them to create all the existence varieties on the planet...and that's sensible to think of that he created any form of animals by using purely tweaking a layout (mix of making blocks) he used for a prior animal. Or something led to a latent gene to be reactivated in that distinctive snake...or in keeping with risk, "God did it" extremely is adequate. by the way, I qualified for this question by way of fact i think that "in the beginning up, God created the heavens and the earth"...and that "all this" is a results of his layout....and that i do no longer "believe in" evolution. i'd observe that i do no longer "disbelieve" evolution the two, I purely do no longer care adequate approximately God's how you could hassle believing it or disbelieving it. Evolutionary thought does grant the main suitable clarification for the form of such issues...even with the undeniable fact that it would not, and by no ability could, disprove my perception that it is all by using God's layout.
