I can't get the algae - I've been fishing, and adding the algae eating fish, but I can't 'clear the algae' because I never got it. Any suggestions?
How can I solve the puzzle if I can't get to the puzzle?

Never mind - I just hadn't fished it enough - About 5 min. after this post, I got the algae to show up.

You can solve the puzzle, even if you never got the algae. You just have to keep adding algae-eating fish. I think it takes almost 10 algae-eating fish to solve the puzzle. I never got algae either, and I was able to solve the puzzle anyway.

The algae appears if you over-fish. Meaning, instead of tapping other sources of food, you pretty much rely on fishing. With my first tribe, I also didn't get algae since my farmers opted to climb for coconuts or harvest the crops. Try fishing instead of harvesting the crops. Pretty soon the algae will appear.
