I was just wondering, since certain people like to claim that we don't work for a living. I know that's not true, but I want other people to see this. By the way, I work TWO jobs. I work at a natural foods store, plus I work as a Spanish tutor at a college.

I am a stay at home mom to 3 kids and a full time college student (when kids are in school) earning a dual major degree in Bible Theology (and yes I am a liberal) and Counseling Psychology. Planning to go on for a Masters of Divinity or Masters of Marriage and Family Counseling.
My husband earns 6 figures working for a website everyone here knows pretty well.

Recently retired after 32 years in the travel industry as owner, manager, VIP corporate counselor, Tour Manager.
Also raised 4 kids and kept a 9 room house.
Now I am enjoying doing nothing I don't want to do. I cruise 2 or 3 times a year, am leaving in September for a 35 day train trip across America, took 4 cruises and two extended road trips last year.
Plans for August next year - 35 day freighter cruise from Southhampton, England through the Mediterreanean and 2 weeks in a cottage on the West Coat of Ireland.
And, no, I'm not rich. I have a modest Social Security and a very modest IRA. How I manage to travel is I have a 10 year old car, don't give a hoot about the latest "gadget", don't own a cell phone - don't want one...My monthly phone bill is under 25.00... I don't eat at "fast food" places because I love to cook.. Don't spend money on fancy-dancy clothes - never did.
I spend my money on the things I feel are worthwhile for me....I love to read, love to take pictures, love to embroidery, love classic movies and have a great selection of DVD's and videos... I lavish on my one and only grandchild - a wonderful young man who cruises with me once a year and loves going with me on my "adventures"....
My life is full....
So, what are you up to...??

I am an engineer who lives in CT, but maybe not much longer. Did you know that CT gets back only about 66 cents in Federal spending for every dollar we pay in Federal taxes?
The reason for this is that we have to carry the freight for shiftless conservative states in the south, southwest and upper midwest, where freeloading is a way of life.

I used to work two jobs, and worked my way through both university and culinary school. Now I have one job (executive chef at a major hotel) and also volunteer my services to the community farmer's market and kitchen shops for food demonstartions. Just like cooking shows! it is great fun. I am 32 years old, and have paid taxes every year since 1988...yes, I have worked for almost 20 years already!
