Only ask twice...my kids learned long ago that if Dad has to "ask" a third time all hell breaks loose! I have a loud voice anyway so it isn't like they cannot hear me....
Even though I only have them part time...they still know that Dad isn't someone to mess with...doesn't mean they like getting up from the X-box or whatever they are doing, but life is better for them if they do.
I started early with them though and it paid off huge...

I've lost count,so now I reversed the tables on them and now it's how many times do my kids have to ask me to do something before I actually do it!

Usually just once, rarely will I have to ask twice for something to be done. A third time while not unheard of happens so rarely it doesn't figure into the equation.

Seems like at least a dozen. And when they give me that look like they don't seem to get what I'm saying, I ask them do they only understand I'm going to take away the computer/video games/ cell phones today?

A zillion. I find it hard to believe a kid will actually get up and do it! lol My kid is on her own now and that brings back a lot of memories.

My oldest is the worse she is sooooo lazy it seem's like I have to scream it at her or just do it myself my young ones like to help out my 2 year old even helps put groceries away and my 5 year old wants to learn how to wash dishes.

for me it depends on what parent is asking me to do something. if its my dad, ill do it right away because hes the scary one. if its my mom then i wont do it at all unless i feel like being nice.
