FYI: I'm almost always sincere when giving compliments. Rare occasion when I'm not, but there's usually some strange reason for it.

A study showed that most woman lie to make other feel better, and most men lie to make thenselves look better. I am going to be honest and say I often lie to make others feel better about themself. I have told people I like their hair, that their outfit is cute, etc etc just to make them feel better about themself.

Yeah, quite many times. I think to be polite sometimes you need to lie a little bit, too. For example, your fat friend asks you if she has lost any weight. You believe the opposite, that she has got really really fatter. But do you say so? I don't think so. You say 'yeah, I think you have got much thinner than you used to be'. Maybe the least lying thing you could say would be 'Yeah, sure, but you could use a little more weight-losing.' Personally, I think that there are times when you have to say if not something untrue, then not all the truth. But don't make it a habit. Best compliments are the ones straight from your heart...

No, I feel genuinely impelled by true feelings when I make a compliment. The only reason to refrain from a comment is when something you see will cause pain or embarrassment by your commenting on it, then restrain yourself, if however- you can save someone from embarrassment by a good word at the appropriate time do so! But most of all--- never hold back good news!

Um...unfortunately yes, and it was not my proudest moment. I try not to lie, but there were some unmitigated circumstances for it.
