ABSOLUTELY!!!!! Not all cheerleaders are sleazy, blond, and dumb. I am a non-blond, conservative, 4.0 having cheerleader. We work SO hard and nonstop. There are actually national cheer teams. Someone asked sarcastically if you've heard of one and if they actually looked into it, there are tons! Have you ever heard of NCA? National Cheer Association. There are a whole bunch of competitions and stuff. To argue someones point about hot-dog eating contests are competitions but not a sport...Hot dog eaters eat hot dogs. How in the world could you compare that to cheerleading?!?!? Cheering is hard and takes a lot of strength and endurance! So...In your face, stereotypes!!!!!!!

Depends on what type of cheerleading it is. If you are actually competing in true competitions then yes (this involves flips and stunts that are difficult and dangerous). If you are standing on the sidelines doing little chants at a high school basketball game and maybe putting some one on your shoulders than no it isn't a sport. Sports involve competition and in many ways teamwork. So those of you who truly work hard to learn the dangerous stunts and flips then I salute you because it is something that I couldn't do. For those of you standing on the sidelines only doing little chants and not competing you aren't true athletes so don't act like it.

YES YES YES, Some people think cheerleaders are just pretty faces that jump around in skirts but cheerleading requires alot of talent more than tennis, soccer, baseball or even football. Cheerleading takes alot of training I'm a cheerleader and have been cheering for 7 yrs. (ever since I was five) & I know that it is harder than it looks especially for fulls doubles and standing flips. I hope it helps.

sure, cheerleading is a interest. i'm ill of everybody making those snarky comments approximately "all megastar cheer is a interest yet sideline isn't..." EXCUSE ME, yet do you be attentive to how lots greater college cheer is than cheering at soccer and basketball video games? We prepare day and evening, perfecting exercises that no person might desire to ever memorize whilst hyperventilating from nonstop circulation. Did I point out we do flips and stunts that ninety 9% of folk might desire to never learn? Oh ya we additionally bypass to camp the place we cheer for 13 HOURS an afternoon.... and we compete against different squads. And as for activities video games, i'm sorry, yet might desire to you yell chants out of your abdomen, hit tight motions making your palms sore, do sky severe jumps and tumbling.. each and every 10 SECONDS??? For over an hour immediately!!! All with a grin on your face in an uncomfortable uniform!!! learn that to different activities the place they get the remainder of SITTING ON A BENCH. If I hear one greater voice tell me cheerleading isn't a interest, so help me, yet you do not have any theory.

Cheerleading wasn't classified as a sport until 1984. Since
then, bigger and bigger "teams" assembled and started to
compete with other schools to see which team people liked
best. Now, there are competitions nationwide, and it is
officially classified as "Sport".
