First, read the label carefully.
Some sweaters are made of content where the manufacturer will say "dry clean only." Sometimes, this guidance is overly cautious, you can try experimenting with a sweater you don't care about to see how the fabric reacts.
If you wash it, consider using a soap for fragile fabrics.
Squeeze water out gently. Do not wring. Wrap sweater in a couple towels to quickly get excess water out.
Place sweater to dry flat.
Ideal drying conditions would be low humidity, outside, light breeze, out of sun.
If possible drying surface should allow air access from underneath the sweater as well, e.g., some type of netting.. Or, place sweater on towel, and replace towel with dry one every few hours.
