If you can, by all means avoid it. Your body should be getting ready for menopause anyway. A hysterectomy is major surgery, and any surgery should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.

Partial or radical hysterectomy surgeries should be performed at the recommendation of a competent physician. Age, weight and general health will be taken into consideration by the surgical team that would perform the surgery.

I would suggest that council with medical people regarding this matter would be far more in the best interest of the questioner or anyone else considering surgery. Consulting with strangers on yahoo is not the smartest thing to do in life and death situations. You have no idea the age or intellectual capacity of those who would answer you in this forum.

Hysterectomies can lead to other health problems, so they should only be undertaken under the worst circumstances.

Reproductive organ cancers, a completely prolapsed uterus, irregular menstrual bleeding that ablation has not helped, or SEVERE uterine fibroids would all be reasons that might constitute uterine removal.

The best person or people to assess need would be a specialist dealing with the individual's health problems.
