Give him a chance, but make it a point to show him that you're not willing for further relationship than friends.
It is because as you entertain him more, the more false HOPE he would hold, and you would make him hurt more.
It is better to stop it all rather than creating larger hopes.

Yes, i think you should but whil you are going out dont do anything bad to him to hurt him, because if the unfortanant did happen and you 2 were to split up there is no reason you cant become friends again. Just treat him like a friend while you are going out but with the romance :D
