On the one side Mike's Kitchen does a mean buffet, on the other Spur has just brought back their Mexican menu. Even though no one can beat Mike's Kitchen's biltong and avocado rump, I'm gonna go with Spur's Mexican thingies for now!!

Mikes Kitchen!
Was actually at the one on Simon Vermooten in Equestria Pretoria last night. The service is far superior to that of a Spur and management is actually involved and interest as to whats happening on the floor. I also like the everyday carvery that MK serves as well as their new approach to "kids", I think the first time around they more or less ignored the family market where as Spur launched their Kids Club, that's why MK failed the first time, they seem to be back with a different attitude and I think its great, the kids corner at the MK I visit is excellent, my son disappears for 2 to 3 hours and I get some much needed rest! I also like the themes to the new menu's, very SA I nature. The only plus to visiting a Spur is their 1000 Island table dressing that you cant get at a MK, otherwise its MK all the way!

Couldn't believe it , found out that there is a Spur here in Shanghai as well near Pudong, anyway i always liked Mike's Kitchen but for a family Spur is best especially the kiddies entertainment facilities.

I love both !!!! In South Africa I preferred Spur - it was the Arkansas Spur - one of the best in SA... However, here in Australia where I live now, between Mike's Kitchen and Spur, only Mike's Kitchen 'survived' - and it is still going strong... Mmmmmm - it is the only place I can find Cheddemelt Steak and 'regte egte wafels met room' !!!!

Wow Alf,

Now that does make me smile - why do the guys were white ties? How South African is that?

So for me its Spur - i grew up on them and as I book my ticket to visit I start salivating thinking about a spur meal with Monkey Gland Sauce.

In London I eat far too much Nando's

Mike's kitchen is good, but the Spur is better. I like their menu, the onion rings are the only onions I'll ever eat! Good food most of the time. Are you asking this because of your place? What is it like?

Spur has good meaty burgers. Nachos are also good. We always eat there because they are very tolerant of our children.

They also have a Sunday Carvery at certain branches.

I havent been to a Mikes Kitchen in years.

Out of interests sake let me tell you that there is a Spur in Basingstoke and about 50 yards from it is a Nando's. On a Sunday the South Africans in the area go to a Church which is virtually for them and afterwards they bomb into the Spur. If the Spur is full they go to Nando's. The Manager of the Spur is English but they have all the Spur sauces except for Monkey Gland which he tells me would make his English client vomit at the thought of it. He asked me why do the guys wear White ties?
