There are a few different reasons for protein in the urine. I'd think that your midwife would have told you what she thought the cause was and what to do about it. If it wasn't a lot of protein, your blood pressure is fine and you're having no other problems, maybe she just wasn't that concerned. At any rate, when I was about 36 weeks pregnant I had +1 protein in my urine. The doctor said to drink more water. So I did, and that took care of the problem! Good luck!

im 40+2 weeks pregnant and have had +1 protein in my urine since i was about 32 weeks pregnant, did she say she would send off the urine sample for testing to see if you have a urine infection or something? It really depends how much protein you have in your urine +1 is very common and nothing really to worry about, if you have an infection either the hospityal will write to you telling you to go to gp to get tablets or your gp will give you a prescription at your next app if you have +3 or +4 thats bad and you would need to have further tests, i dont think this is the case asif it was a high amount your midwife would have explained fully what was going to happen next
to help flush out any possible infection drink 200mls water every hour and have at least 1 glass of cranberry juice a day

Excessive protein in urine can signify a urinary tract infection. As pregnancy progresses protein in urine and high blood pressure can signify preeclampsia
Now I will shed some light on midwifery;
A certified nurse midwife is a professional educated in both nursing and midwifery who is certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. All CNMs have completed an accredited midwifery program and passed the the national certifying exams. They provide prenantal care and attend births primarily in hospitals, birth centers and private homes. CNMs have safety records equal to those of physicians. They also provide routine gynological care.

Don't overexert yourself, put your feet up as much as possible, and drink more water. Protein in the urine is a sign of preeclampsia (pregnancy induced hypertension). I had this and delivered six weeks early. Take care of yourself!

Well this is the start of preclampsia a very serious condition during pregnancy. I had it and had to go immediately on bedrest and had many over night visits at the hospital for monitoring. This can be very harmful to you and can cause seizures. You may need to talk to your midwife again or consult a doctor about this.

Protein is a sign of your kidneys not working right...it's a quick fix though!
DRINK MORE WATER! Especially during the months ahead, the warmer it is, the more you should drink. If that still doesn't work, it could be a sign of a possible kidney stone. They suck, trust me, I had one when I was pregnant!
