I have an optical mouse, and its plugged in correctly, its worked smoothly without a problem EVER.

All of a sudden when i turn on my computer or restart it, ot come back from the screensaver the mouse wont move - sometimes ctrl alt delete will unfreeze it, but ill load an internet page or a program and it will refreeze.

It always just freezes right in the middle of the screen,

This has only been happening since last night, and i've done or downloaded nothing new.

Help?

I'm on windows xp, on emachines and i take very good care of my computer.

If its wireless, you may be too far away from the transceiver or dongle. If its wired, go to the mouse mfgs site and download the latest driver.

Too much program may be running at the back ground that's taking up too much resources. Does you pc freeze in any other way aside from the mouse? If it does, update your anti-virus & anti-spyware program.

You can also try to use the mouse on a different pc. If it acts the same, replace the mouse. If it doesn't, your pc has a problem.

Sounds like a driver (mouse software) problem. Go to the support section of the mouse manufacturer and download the latest driver for your mouse.

The driver could have got corrupted. Find the manufacture web site and re install the drivers. It's an easy fix.
If it's wireless..put new batteries in..and make sure the reciever isn't blocked..good luck sexy!

My guess is resource conflict. Check device manager and see if your mouse driver is not conflicting with any other resource. If all all fails, then restore your system to its last date. Hope that helps.
