Sildenafil(Viagra) has been shown to remain effective for at least 0.5–3 years in controlled and uncontrolled studies. Although such experience suggests that the drug can be used throughout life in sexually active men if clinically indicated.
The causes of erectile dysfunction may be physiological or psychological. Psychological impotence can often be helped by almost anything that the patient believes in; there is a very strong placebo effect.

There is some evidence that people that use Viagra (or the other ED drugs) develop at least a psychological dependence, i.e. they can't get a satisfactory erection without taking the drug. And many people need higher doses after using it regularly for a few months. But it is not dependence in the classic sense because there aren't cravings, just a weak or non-existent erection without it.

doesn't work anymore, At that point nothing else does either.
