What can I do for the pain? Will it go away or get worse? Is the baby is the right position? I don't want to take Tylenol all the time. Also, I have a job that I walk around...not too much sitting.

Your tail bone hurts because of the hormone relaxin which causes connective tissue to soften. You might notice that other joints are achey too. Sitting on a pillow (especially one with a hole in the middle) might help or a warm bath. Heating pads might work too. While tylenol is usually ok'd by doctors, it definitely shouldn't be taken on a constant basis, but can be used once in a while. Try asking your boss if you can take a break every hour or so to take the strain off your pelvis and back. It is quite possible that the pain will continue through your pregnancy and worsen as the weight of the baby presses down on your pelvis and strains your back. Try some back-strengthening exercises with weights and practice good posture. Try not to walk around with a pronounced "mommy arch" in your back. You can also do some abdominal exercises to strengthen them to help your back hold up the load you are carrying.

My tailbone hurts ALL the time and I'm 24 weeks along.
I thought it was because I possibly broke my tailbone when I was 8, but, my friend is 22 weeks pregnant and she has the same exact complaint!
I think its the way our baby's are sitting.
My son is also breeeech ... so I have him dancing on my bladder too! :)
I only seem to get the pain every week so it must depend on what position he's in. And I notice it less when I'm sitting straight up or standing .. I seem to get the pain worse when I'm slouching in my chair or on the couch.

good luck! God bless!

If your tailbone hurts, it could be a pilonidal cyst. Does it hurt when you twist or bend or put any pressure on the area? A polonidal cyst is hard to explain - not life threatening in any way or harmful to the baby - just painful. Mine flared up a lot during the first couple of months of pregnancy. Is the area tender to the touch? You can learn more on pilonidal.org. You'll see a lot on there about having surgery, but honestly I think its related to slight dairy allergies. And eating onions seems to make it go away. Good luck!

I hear you. Sometimes prolonged standing is killer on my lower back. My chiropractor said that adjustments can still be made during my pregnancy if I wanted without harming the baby. Good shoes are important. A little wedge is actually good I'm told and I like a bit of padding in my shoes. Don't underestimate the power of exercise -- strengthen your muscles with pelvic exercises. I've also heard of people using a support belt -- but talk to your doctor/physiotherapist about that one. Heating pads are also good and they have some fancy ones now that stick to your skin so you might be able to wear while working. I hope you're avoiding lifting as well. Hope it helps!

Thats your sciatic nerve, maybe siatic, always mispell that. One thing I heard was baths or swimming to take the pressure off it.

It is going to get worse. Talk to your doctor about what to do.
