I thought I was doing good to with keeping up with my health, then I went to the doctor for the gestational diabetes test and they took my blood and next day told me I am anemic (low iron in blood). That explains why I have been severly tired. The doctor prescribed me Ferosol iron supplements and I still feel so tired. I never had nosebleeds, I am just severly tired, pale, and have been experiencing restless leg syndrome. Try to get some iron supplements (something your doctor will approve of), eat a high iron diet, get some exercise (this really helps to circulate your blood), and drink alot of water. Yes, since you are not getting enough iron the baby will take it from you!

You doctor should be prescribing another Iron vitamin for you. Yes nose bleeds, Seeing spots, headaches, tiredness and when you lay down is unrestful sleep is all signs of low Iron. Yes the baby can be taking your Iron as well as your calcium. However the baby is not going to be taking more then he/she is required. So even with everything your doing your still not getting enough in your system for yourself and the baby. Talk to the doctor.
Even with the prenatal vitamins I still needed extra Iron supplements.

I had low iron in my pregnancy, I had to take an iron supplement pill once a day, and also I ate Total cereal, which my doc. recommended. But be careful, getting too much iron is not good for you, and can cause trouble. For example, the day after I had my baby my iron was really low, so my doc suggested taking the iron pill twice a day, which was too much. I started having pains from it, and when I cut back on the iron they went away. A nurse also told me about that.

This is normal. The baby is taking up all our iron. You might want to ask your doctor about iron supplements. Low iron will make you feel very tired so these might help with your energy levels. In the meantime continue to take your vitamins and eat foods rich in iron.

I am 37 and 5 days. My Dr just told me I had low iron. He told me to buy Ferro-Sequels. I have taken a few so far. Can't tell much difference yet. Have been really tired with no energy. Not too fun.

low iron will actually make you have a more tiring labour. You need to go in with some energy. My midwife has adjusted my diet and put me on Floredex. My energy is going up already and she says that will make my labour better if I go in with energy instead drained
