Because it fires up their base and gets them involved. Nothing like a fake villan when you're points are all actually false ones.

Good question! I've wondered this ever since I heard of the "War on Christmas". On the other hand, I'm totally amazed when so many US "Christians" seem to be surprised to hear that hundreds of thousands of Christians are actually and really persecuted in the middle east now. They don't even know these people exist! Of course the middle eastern Christians were recently converted by St. Paul and preachers like him. And of course whatever the middle eastern Christians are experiencing cannot compare to the horror of being wished "happy holiday" by a cashier at Target.

I think your premise is flawed.
I am not religous in any way, but I certainly see the point of white Christians in America saying that they are demeaned in this culture without much recourse.
(I have not heard anyone claim 'persecution' mind you)
For instance I watched a TV show a few weeks back (the new Mathew Perry show , on Sunset Strip or something like that)
This was a serious drama in which the main character broke up with his fiancee because she allowed herself to be interviewed on THE 700 CLUB!
The whole thrust of the episode was that being a Christian was the equivilent of being a nazi or a Muslim terrorist!
Not only is that inaccurate and offensive on every level...it also goes unchallenged by the ACLU or any of the other liberal 'watchdogs' that would NEVER allow these messages to air if it demeaned and insulted blacks, Muslims etc.
Again. I am not a Christian myself, but you would have to be deaf dumb and blind not to see the double standard when it comes to bashing Christians in this country.

Actually, it is your question that is phony and ridiculous - there isn't anybody who's claiming to be "persecuted" by minorities on that question. Why do you make stuff up?
If you'd actually have read the Q&A you reference, they were saying that Christians got very short shrift from the left, and were much less tolerated by the left than any other religion. It was about the intolerance of the left, not "persecution" by "minorities".
Tweak.

I am not one to cry about being treated unfairly but the need to be PC is a huge problem for the country. In several districts in Ca the public schools teach the Koran and have role play based on the book but Ca is one of the leading states when it comes to taking christian teachings from school. They believe that by teaching the Islamic study they will build tolerance for people practicing Muslim faith. I don't have a problem with teaching the Koran so much as with the exclusion of Christian teachings. IMO knowledge is power and our kids if given all the facts can make their own choices. I am a Conservative on most issues and I am a Christian but I will allow my kids to chose their beliefs I just don't want them force fed by anyone.

IMHO...There does seem to be a push by many in America to paint christianity in as negative as light as possible and to try to remove whatever vestige of christianity it can from schools, public spaces and even commercial spaces (i.e Holiday tree, Holiday sale...what holiday, oh the one named after the baby Chrsit?). I guess that is a small cross to bear when compared with Christians all over the world that are slaughtered for their religion or banned from practicing it. But I am not aware that we persecute minorities, or anyone for that matter. can you give some viable examples please?

Wow! Im certainly not religious, but I have to say that Christians are more "closed-mouthed" than ANY religion! I mean come on?! The Jews complaining about Christmas trees?? Muslim cab drivers refusing clients?? Muslim Target employee refusing to package bacon?? And the real winners; The imams on the U.S. Airways flight!! What the hell were they thinking?? I know! "Lets set up for a lawsuit...hehe".
Christians are hardly claiming to be persecuted!

Religions make bigots and predigest people against other ethnic groups or religions.
I hold hope in a higher power, but man made religion makes me sick to my stomach, ignorant control freaks,All of them, they pray on peoples faith and the weak minded.Sense their inceptions, they have slaughtered millions for their views or what they feel are acceptable ways.

It's the oldest play in the Rightist/Fascist playbook.
You scream about the supposed "persecution" committed by those on the other side, thereby distracting attention away from your agenda.
Read"American Fascists" by Chris Hedges. It exposes the Fundamentalists for what they are.

My gf came lived through a civil war happening in her country, they should really try living through one of those or any of other crisis on a scale like that before crying "We're soooo persecuted."
That is reason #1 why I hate the Right Wing.
