Is there a name for the process where cats and dogs (and other various critters) glow blue/green/orange/whatever in the night? I know it's caused by the tapetum lucidem of the animal's eye but does the process have a particular name? I'm writing a novel and need to know how to describe the phenomena. If it has a technical name I'd prefer to use it. If not? It's a common enough occurance that I can swing a description that people will understand. Thanks!

A lot of researchers call it "eye shine"

As an example when i go night spotting for spiders,
various species of wolf spiders can be identified by their "eye shine"

Hope this answers your question!
