You need to obtain the restraining order documents to see exactly what is going on. You can get those at the courthouse where the restraining order was filed.

A restraining order can only be issued by a judge. The papers will tell you when the restraining order expires. Sometimes they last for years - up to 5 years in some jurisdictions.

I don't think you have the right or the whole story. What kind of an investigator put the order out? This is a new one. If it was related to a case that was closed, it should have expired. You should check with your local court house,each local court has it own rules for TROs.

usually lasts for 5-10 years I think... after that time you can try and appeal or get rid of the order.
