Kitty, hold his feet to the fire. If he doesn't want to be a good dad on his own, let the court make him do it. The man fathered these kids. He has to accept responsibility for them. To quit a high paying job for any reason is morally unconscionable when there are children dependent upon that money. Don't cut him any more slack. Let him pay, or let him go to jail and think about it for a while. The kids are what is important. Don't lose sight of that!

The court will make whatever financial decisions they can, based on the simple facts. Can you ask that his child support be taken directly from his paycheck? That's how things worked for my husband (not that he ever didn't pay, anyway - it just cut the communication out of the whole thing).
I think it's good that you are trying to encourage him to be a parent - not for *your* sake, not for revenge of some kind, but for your kids' sake. Some people, men & women, just need to be told that they *can* do this, that it's a good thing, and that you support them in this (regardless of any interpersonal issues the two of you may have).
This is especially true of men, who have been raised to believe they don't have the ability to nurture, that society doesn't support them in their right to really parent, that they might as well just give up.

You can't force a parent to be a parent when they don't have the balls to being so.
he sounds like a real low life father. Why push him to be a dad he's not. Sounds like he's just a sperm donor.
All you can hope for is for the judge to make him pay. OR have him put in jail. It's really up to the judge.
You should get his tax returns. All you can hope for honey is something drastically hits him in the head and he wakes up to his responsibilities.

just take him back to court tell the truth and let them decide whats going to happen i think a few days in jail might wake him up to the fact that divorcing your spouse doesn't mean dropping your kids

The judge will not rule in your favor, he will rule in the kids best interest's. There is guidelines they go by, and, he will do something to him (probably not what he wants to but has to). I am a father paying child support, and i am behind, but it is because of job issues (4 weeks with no check) and the fact that one child is with me and i still pay. good luck, but remember, it isn't about you, it is about the kids.

I wouldn't worry about the judge there are guidelines as to how much the father is to pay .He has to pay even if he doesn't see his kids. Its his financial responsability.hopefully he will get what he deserves and you will get your support plus arrear payments. Good luck.

Been there; done that.
There is nothing you can do to make this man accept his responsibilities. Do not waste your time and energy.
Give the judge or your attorney the facts they need. The law will take care of the ex.
Forget trying to make him into a caring parent.
