I keep hearing horror stories from the area, when I left 3 years ago, the place was fine what happened. I hear homes are selling for 1/6 their values and forclosures line every block. Is it as bad as people and the media are claiming? wayne/oakland/macomb counties specificaly.

First of all the housing market was inflated because Chrysler's moved to the burbs. Second of all houses are not selling for 1/6 their value but are down about 10% and take longer to sell (about 18 mo in my area) Third of all, all the good paying companies don't know how to run a company, the CEO and big wigs all take their million dollar paychecks and scram. Government is out of control, bloated by 50% with fat a$$ people that don't care a hoot about "the people". Michigan will not rebound any time soon. To keep his job, we had to move to China! (I am not joking)

It's mainly the amount of businesses closing, and the fact that our governor is too slow in trying to get any businesses into Detroit. Someone told me there were over 1600 homes in downriver that forclosed, last year alone...pretty scary.

AS I hatye to admit it, that is the case here. the media however is stretching it a tad, but the general base of their stories are true, as we have had the highest foreclosure rate in the country and homes selling BELOW $30,000.

This is clearly America's Third World, and until we fix this derelict city, we have no right to go to other countries and attempt to institute our great democracy.
