I think the only way would be to wait it out and see how long it lasts. They feel pretty much the same. If it lasts 48 hours or so, then goes away, you've got your answer.

Evenutally you're going to figure it out, i.e. if your sickness lasts more than 3-5 days, and if you have also missed a period, then chances are good that you are pregnant. If you suspect morning sickness and want to know asap, you should be far enough along at this point to get an accurate reading from a pregnancy test.

Thats a good question as I thought I had the stomach flu (my husband did) when my morning sickness started with my last pregnancy. I figured it out when it didn't go away and I found I could function around the yuck.
But with my first it last exactly 36 hours.
Good luck

With a virus you would likely have diarrhea and a fever...with morning sickness you feel like you are going to vomit, or actually do..without the other symotoms.

if you have a virus, you will also have chills and a fever and aches and pains. you'll be sick to your stomach, but not feel much better after you vomit. morning sickness is just nausea and vomiting, but not feeling sick otherwise. eating saltine crackers can help with morning sickness more than with a virus.

Viruses usually have other symptoms like diarrhea and fever. However ultimately it doesn't really matter. They are both treated the same way flat gingerale, bland food, lots of fluids, etc.
