3 months, but please think before you do it. The child should be old enough to take care of their own ears.

Be aware the your baby's ear lobes will not be fully dropped until about 1 year old. So if you pierce them now the placement of the hole will not be the same when she is older. It will sit much lower than at the time you pierced it.

If you do choose to do it when she is still an infant, go somewhere where they will do both ears at the same time. That makes it easier for the child because it's over and done with quicker.

Also talk to your child's doctor and see if they can do it there in the office. Biggest thing is to make sure wherever you go uses sterilized tools and has an experienced person doing it.

All decent jewelry shops will tell you they will not pierce ears until the baby is at least 4 months old. My daughters pediatrician said the same thing. They have a better immune system at this point to fight off any little infection that may occur.

Oh, and Im sure you already know, but make sure to not use any fake jewelry, even using silver is risky. Go for straight golds (yellow or white).

I have 2 daughters and a son, I'm pregnant right now with my 4th child and its a girl. A doctor recommends that you wait until your baby has gone for her first check up and get her shots before piercing her ears. There is nothing wrong with piercing your child ears at 2 months. As long as the child is up to date with shots thats all that matters. I pierced both of my daughters ears right after they went for their first doctor's visit. The more you wait, the painful it would be for them. I wanted to get it out the way and + when their babies they always want to sleep so they have no idea of whats going on. You can take care of the healing much easier too. You pierce her ears now and she'll have no choice but to get use to it as she grows up. You wait until she's like 3-then she knows she has something new in her ears, and she'll want to mess with it-you'll have alot of lost earings.I had my ears pierced when I was born too right after the shots. As long as you take care of her ears and prevented from getting an infection, you shouldn't have any problems. :-)

for most youthful ones getting their ears pierced is a good sized journey of their lives. Wait until eventually they ask to have their ears pierced, then make an get at the same time they are going to bear in options and cherish out of it.

Wait until your child is older. I myself wasn't allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 8 years old. I still find earrings uncomfortable and I'm an adult! Think about a baby that can't tell you it hurts or if it gets infected...besides I think babies with pierced ears look creepy. A big sorry to all the parents that think it looks cute...but I think it looks creepy and too adult looking.

A baby doesn't need extra holes in her body for the purpose of wearing jewelry...you wouldn't pierce a baby's belly button would you?? Wait a little bit until they are older.

When their not a baby anymore. I know it must be tempting to pierce your baby girls ears but I say wait until she asks for them. It's only something that they will end up pulling on, getting caught on things or getting infected, why would you want to put your child through unecessary and unsuspecting pain? I feel it's more of a parents pleasure then a baby's, they are not dolls! I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 10.....

That all depends on how old you as her parent think she should be. My daughter had her ears pierced when she was 6 months. I've also seen hospital's that offer ear piercing to newborn babies. So really it's just up to you.

I don't think they should have it done until they are around 6 yrs. old a baby cant tell you if it hurts my neighbor had her baby's done and the poor thing was hurting so bad that you couldn't touch her ears. And that's doing everything the doctor told her to do. I would think twice My oldest had hers done about 5 or 6 yrs. and my middle daughter still didn't and she is 9 and don't want to.

I waited till my daughter asked me,she was 17 months.Just make sure you go to a place that does both ears at one time,if not she'll be screaming and you will have a hard time doing the other ear.

Must have her 2month shots. Thats what most places request when you bring your child in to get their ears done. Bring the shot record. Thats the age both my godchildren and neice had theirs done. I have a 13 yr old daughter I chose not to do hers until she asks
