Assuming that he told you a smaller number than what was the truth. Ex. He said 5 but it was really 15? Because it seems like most girls that post on here tell the husband too mind his own business if it was the wife that lied. They also seem too say that the past doesn't matter. So i assume you women would not care about our (men) past?

I am not sure how the subject came up, but if she asks you a question you should tell her the truth. Why would you lie to her to begin with? TRUST to me is the most important thing in a relationship.

It hurts to ask that question and then to hear the answer, and there's no way to know if it's the truth or a lie. When I asked my husband there was really no reason for him to lie about it since he has been previously married and dated a few girls before he was married, so I was curious and wanted to know but I knew it didn't really matter since he's married to me now and won't add any other women to that number!

I don't think it's a conversation that should be had in the first place. All a potential partner really needs to know is that you're disease-free in my opinion. Anything else is just asking for trouble. Unless, of course, you've both portrayed yourselves as people for whom virginity is important or something. Then I suppose it's a bit of a big deal, but not insurmountable. If you love the person, it shouldn't matter who else they've slept with.

If it was before he met me i would be somewhat hurt yes BUT i would let the past be the past and love him for him and let it go. I would only be really upset if it was after we were together if he had done this while being with me. The past before he met me was the past and has nothing to do with our relationship and marriage now. What he did before me is his business with this and he respects me and my past the same way as well. We started fresh and new when we met each other and it was great. If he did something criminal then yes it would have mattered and i would not have married him.

I don't think it is a good policy to go into details. So it is better to say that you'd rather not tell a specific number, then to make one up and like. However, if the lie was because you were trying to be reassuring, then at least the motivation behind it is halfway decent. The Past is the Past.

I think I'd rather him be honest and tell me the truth from the start. But I'm sure my husband had alot more then he says he has but that is his past. I'm sure he wouldn't want to know exactally how many men I've had in my life time.
All that should matter is right now. Not back then.
If it matters then someone isn't very confident about themselves.

How would I find out that he lied?

If the husband is going to lie about that, why come clean later? That just might be one of the few lies that you might actually get away with...

I think it is considered the most lied about topic anyways!

I could careless if my husband lied to me about how many women he slept with before me. Quite frankly I don't want to know, that's in his past.

I had found out through the grapevine (i.e., my man's big mouth brothers...) that he has had MANY women.........I do not know the exact number but it is A LOT....I do not care to know the number, I am his lady, he sleeps in Our bed everynight, and I know he is with the woman he WANTS to be with.

Past means nothing to me...I am more mature than that.
