Supporting the war or not, supporting the troops or not, these are all useless exercises in semantics.

War is not the thing to support.

It is a means to an end. The end goal is where we need to find common ground. Once common ground is found about the goal, the discussion about whether you support the war or the troops is revealed as the empty rhetoric it is now and always will be.

The goal is a free people with hope for the future.

We can look back now and scream about lies and missteps, but these are only important now as lessons. We are here now, we must weigh what is best for the USA, Iraq, and the world. The costs of failure at this point are too great for the world for the outcome to be decided by political positioning and empty rhetoric.

Hmmm... I don't recall ever saying I actually support the war (But I admit I supported the reasons we went to war in the first place.). What I support is keeping quiet about any exit plan we do decide on, because the rest of the world doesn't deserve to know about it and our troops could be in more danger if we do divulge that information.

I also support our troops 100% and I want to see them all make it home safely. But I also realize that not all of them will be coming home, since like in other places we have fought in we will be leaving occupation troops behind. We even left occupation forces behind in the only war we lost (Vietnam).

Your kind of mentality is what's doing this country in. Let me see if I can peg your thinking. When you were kid, you were constantly breaking the rules, but got mad at your parents for punishing you. At work, you goof off and don't do your job and when your boss writes you up or criticizes you, then he's the asshole. You sleep around on your wife and when she finds out and throws a fit, throws you out of the house, she's a cold hearted *****?

{Hollywood! Opps! Sorry. (In the words of Archie Bunker: California is just waiting on two more fruitcakes to break off and float out to sea.)}

I don't support the war! I support our troops that have to follow orders! I am sure they would much rather be home and safe with their loved one too! God bless them and protect them, I also feel for the innocent people that are caught up in this, there are plenty of families that don't want war and are stuck there, and our American soldiers are doing their best to protect them.

Ya see, in the OT, God routinely murdered a vast array of people.

They are only trying to be closer to God.
