One of the most important of all is the carbonic acid-carbonate buffer. It's responsible for maintaining the pH levels of huge amounts of water on the planet.

using ethenal verses gasoline

sounds good but after everything is said and done it's going to cause the same amount of pollution to create the ethan from corn verse drill holes in the ground for oil
