When is this year's vernal equinox? I've found varying answers from NASA, the NAVY, Space.com, Wikipedia, and the Almanac. Who is correct for 2007?

The answer is yes.

Actually, it depends on which time zone you are in.

Vernal equinox is at 0h 07m on March 21 in Universal Time (what used to be called Greewich Mean Time).

With Daylight Saving Time this corresponds to:

March 20 at
20:07 (8:07 pm) in the Eastern Zone (New York)
19:07 in the Central Zone
18:07 in the Mountain Zone
17:07 (5:07 pm) Pacific Zone (Los Angeles)
15:07 (3:07 pm) Hawaii and Alaska

March 21 at
11:07 In Melbourne Australia.
01:07 in Rome (not yet on Daylight Saving)

and so on.

Hi Rachelle!

It's March 21st in the Eastern hemisphere and this evening, March 20th, in the Western hemisphere!

The differing dates are the effect of time zones.

This is a common problem with using almanacs. Almanac writers most often use Greenwich Mean Time, which is four hours ahead of US Eastern Daylight Time. It also affects things like the dates of lunar phases and the timing of eclipses. The eclipse Monday the 19th, for instance, happened Sunday the 18th for North America.
