Hi

We are coming to Orlando Florida for a holiday for 3 weeks - last 3 weeks in December.

We are a family of 5; 2 adults, 6 year old, 4 year old and 2 year old.

So far we have budgeted out plane tickets, accomodation, car hire, Disney tickets, Parking.

I read in a travel guide that MacDonald meals are about $3-50, cokes $1-50 etc. Is there a MacDonalds inside the theme parks and are they the same price as MacDonalds outside the theme parks?

Also I saw Universal is different to Disney, would you suggest going to both sets of parks?

Finally where is the best place to spend Christmas Day?

thanks

Gay Day is the first weekend in June. You don't need to worry about that. Bottled drinks in the park are 2.50

Here is a website with menus and prices for all the restaurants in the World.

One tip, if you are going to be there that long, drink water more than coke, especially when walking around, too much coke and your energy really starts to lag and you start feeling bad. Also plan on eating a sit down meal everyday. We usually pick lunch because it is cheaper than dinner and it gives you a chance to sit down, rest your feet, cool off or warm up (depending on the weather), and talk about where you have been and where you want to go.

As for universal, the 6 year old may like it depending on how tall he/she is, but most rides have a height requirement so I would look at that. And the kids section is kind of off by itself where Disney usually has something kid friendly close to a coaster so you can child swap.

To me a better park for families, if you are going to add one, is Sea World. There are coasters for the thrill seekers, but the kids really enjoy the animal interaction and show. Both Universal and Sea World are running online specials now that allow you to park hop within their parks (Universal can go to Universal and Islands of Adventure and Sea World can go to Sea World and Bush Gardens) for 7 consecutive days for $85 per person. A pretty good value if you find you want to explore other parks.

Where are you staying? If you are on Disney property and not planning on going to other parks you really don't need to hire a car. They have free transportation to and from the airport and have great on site transportation. If you are wanting to go to other parks you could just rent a car for a few days or call a taxi. Might be a savings for you. If you are staying offsite you might also compare the cost of parking and rental car to the savings you are getting by staying off property. Often it works out cheaper to stay onsite, and you are able to take advantage of early park entry and nights it stays open late for Disney guest. Also you can have purchases sent back to your hotel. It really is a great complex.

You are going to have a great time! I think since you will be here awhile, you should check out the Universal Studios if you have the chance because they are very different from Disney but just as much fun. There are McDonalds located on Disney property so you should have no problem finding "cheap" meals.
As far as gay pride weekend is normally in June. It is not a sponsered Disney event so you won't get much info from Disney about it but I am sure you can google some info about it for the dates.
For spending Christmas Day, My choice is the Magic Kingdom. I love the way the decorate for the holidays and their christmas parade is one of my favorites.
Have a great holiday!

The MacDonald's in Disney is much different. They do not have your normal MacDonald's. They only have a drink and fries booth. I do believe they are expensive drinks being at least $3.00 and same with the fries. There is only on located in the magic kingdom. It is in between Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Fantasy Land. Yes, I would suggest going to Universal as well. It is a different experience. I would suggest going to the Adventure Island park at Universal only if you like thrill rides though. Dont miss out on all the Disney parks to go to Universal they are much better parks. The best place to spend christmas would be the Magic Kingdom at DisneyWorld. They have an amazing christmas day parade and you should not miss it. Hope this helps!
