You're joking, right?
Most Americans are ardent capitalists, and support virtually everything that is pro-capitalist, which includes Free Trade, Globalisation, Outsourcing, etc.
Anything that is against this is labelled "socialist", "anti-American," and "evil"... which are all the same to many Americans.
Most Americans are incapable of objectivity. They always think they are the "Good Guys" on the stage of History & World Affairs, and "somebody else" is the bad guy - it is IMPOSSIBLE & incomprehensible that Americans could actually be the bad guys.
They think they stand for Peace, Freedom, Democracy, Tolerance, Morality, Prosperity, and Family Values. And they ignore the fact that the US has 700+ military bases in 130 countries around the world, spends $400+ billion annually on defense even in "peacetime" (no such thing, really), and its military-industrial complex is the largest producer, exporter, distributor of Arms in the world....
...all financed by US taxpayers. Truly the country of Family Values.
Yes, it's not OK to sell drugs that ruin people's lives, but it's OK to sell weapons that kill people and ruin their lives. Americans are upset that 3,000 died in the WTC attacks, and another 3,000+ soldiers in Iraq. Everybody knows these figures. But what about the 16,000 children that die EVERY DAY due to hunger??? That is 1 jumbo jet full of children crashing into a mountain about every 40 minutes.... FOREVER. We wonder why Iran may want to have strategic nuclear weapons... even though we STILL have 7,000 in our active arsenal, 15 years after the "end" of the Cold War. (And China only has 20.)
Truly, we are the Moral Leaders of the World, and our foreign policy is predicated upon Peace, and not War, even though we have a Department of "Defense" (Attack, really) with an annual budget of $425 billion (and growing), and no Department of Peace.
Americans are so proud to be Americans. They have no clue as to the humanitarian atrocities that our government instigates or helps to perpetuate. It's all ignored by the mainstream media, because NOBODY WANTS TO FEEL BAD ABOUT THEMSELVES OR THEIR COUNTRY... so they ignore any truths or viewpoints that suggest otherwise.
In the "developed" Western world, we have the highest:
1) Cancer rates
2) Obesity rates
3) Mental Illness rates
4) Substance Abuse rates
5) Prison Incarceration rates
6) Violent Crime rates
7) Infant Mortality rates
8) Divorce rates
9) Poverty rates
10) Income disparity rates
Yes, truly we have the healthiest, greatest society in the world. America is #1.There's nothing wrong with US - it's the rest of the world that has problems and should learn from us about the American Way of Life.
And of course, we're so smart & advanced that 100+ million Americans still believe this.

The only people in the U.S. who truly believe in a free market are the ones making money off of it.
There's always been 'protectionism' built into the American system - tariffs, trade agreements, etc.
Is that socialist? No, because the underlying system isn't based on equality without status. It's not egalitarian, but that's where the idea of the 'american dream' is from.

Still got your head buried in the sand?
Folks like you who call anyone who does not agree with you 100% "socialists" or other names are the greatest danger to America.
(Yahoo won't let me say where your head is really buried)
