My family does not like my boyfriend and it is getting difficult with them. How do you deal with your family interference and will it work out if they continue?

We are both 27. My family does not like him because they think I should be with a doctor or a lawyer because I am doctor. I just want someone I can be happy with and he makes me happy.

A better question would be: what about my boyfriend is bothering my family? Often when in a relationship if we have any co-dependent tendencies or take people at face value we end up in relationships that are not right for us. Often outsiders, friends and family, can see this person more clearly than we can. Possibly this person is not as wonderful as you think. Do yourself a favor and evaluate the person and the reasons others are objecting to the relationship. You are young and may be in and out of love many times before marrying the right person. If you are feeling any warning signs yourself that this person is not the right one, please heed them. My grandmother had a saying, "Marry in haste, repent in leisure."

If your a doc you know the answer. you never got that question from a patient or a patients mother.

You can only work out with any one if you work hard. Your family loves you they should be able to put there differences aside for you.

your boyfriend needs to make an effort. If this scenario is not played out carefully you could loose your family or your boyfriend or all the above if you are not honest and open with them all over this subject.

The only way your family can interfere is if you are dependent on them in some way. If that is the case, you may not even be mature enough to entertain a relationship.

If you aren't dependent on your family, why do you care what they say? This also shows immaturity. Your family might be justified in not liking the relationship because it seems to be hindering your maturity and growth.

the truth of the matter is, your family is probably right and you will go to the ends of the Earth to prove them wrong...no doubt in spite of yourself....step back and take a really good look at him and think about why they don't like him.

How old are the both of you if i may ask? Ask long as you are both adults then go for it and they cannot stop you... It is your choice who you want to be with and it is not their choice. Why do they not like him if i may ask? It can work out if you choose for it to.

It depends upon your age. If you are a young teenager, do what they tell you. If you are an adult, do whatever suits you.
