I have this recipe book of my mother's where a bunch of people share recipes and create a cookbook. Somebody compiled a list in it of all the tough stains and how to get them out. There's a method for nail polish, and you should know EVERY method i've used from this book has worked.

Plus a few times I answered some questions on here and the asker said it worked for them too.

Nail Polish:

Sponge with polish remover or banana oil. Wash. If stain remains, sponge with denatured alcohol to which a few drops of ammonia have been added. Wash again.

Do not use polish remover on acetate or triacetate fabrics - use the banana oil for these.

Good luck, and happy washing!

If the clothes are cotton you can probably use finger nail polish remover. If they are a synthetic such as polyester or nylon or rayon the polish remover might eat a hole in them. Try somewhere on the garment that doesn't show and see what happens.

removing Nail Polish from fabric a million. place the cloth face down on a clean white cloth or paper towels and blot with acetone (warning: do no longer use acetone on fabric containing acetate or triacetate. this is going to soften those fibers!). 2. Rinse with clean water. 3. Repeat Steps a million and 2 till blotting now no longer transfers the stain to the cloth or paper towels. 4. be conscious a prewash stain remover. 5. Launder.

Try acetone, but be careful because if the proof is too high it may take some of the color out of the clothes as well.
