Went to the library last night with my 5yr old and we whispered like I was taught to do as a child. The majority of other people adults included were talking and laughing like they were at the Roller Rink. One mother of 3 hoodlums who were running wild actually used the library research computers to check and send messages on her myspace page during this time one of her brood was bothering my daughter and I while we trying to read our books quietly in the corner. My question is what happened to the library? I loved going there when I was a kid it was always so peaceful does anyone actually go there to read or learn?
Why do parents think it's acceptable to allow their children to act this way we eventually left because the little hoodlum would not stop bothering us and I was too scared of his mother who was loudly discussing her issues with public assistance to ask him to leave us alone.

Some people just have no class. It's a real shame. I may act like a stupid jerk a lot but I know when and where it's acceptable.

P.S. I love the library too, so much better than Barnes and Noble

So many people have just lost respect for others. The only library I have been to lately is my children's schools library. You are still expected to mind your manners there. I can't stand the fact that people let their children run around like chickens with their heads cut off in stores. Not only is it disrespectful to stand in the middle of and isle wrestling or throwing toys and ball around, but it is dangerous. Most of the time, the parents are not even within 50 feet of their children.....HOW many abductions happen in a day?? My children are not allowed to run about, they stay with me and get out of others way. My children have their moments at home being a little hyper and misbehaving to an extent, but they have the utmost respect for others especially in public.

Most mothers get offended and even embarrassed when their parenting skills are corrected. Don't be afraid sometimes it's something you're going to have to do. What is the parent going to do in a public place to you, she'd be stupid if she did anything. There are many times I have told parents to control their kids in stores or at the playground. They usually straighten up and keep their kids under control. Good luck and keep setting a good example.

Oh good.

You've gotten sick of it like the rest of us too!

Parenting classes should be mandatory in schools.

I guess they grew up like their kids are growing up now.
