Should I choose both for my next Software Engineering position. Being my current one lacks both?

I guess I should be looking for a job that has unit testing. Does the job need to be agile or XP to use unit testing?

It would be nice if you cited your statistics Alias Smith and Jones, because I doubt that information is either available or accurate. In general, UML is useful for larger projects where a team of people need to know and agree on an object and functionality hierarchy. Unit testing is useful for a single developer, and even more useful in teams, especially when integrated into build systems.

As far as percentages, I couldn't tell you, but we are using Unit Testing where I work.

All programmers should unit test everything all the time.
I have been a web developer for 10 years and never once been asked about UML, but it's probably used a lot in most "serious" software companies that make desktop software in teams.

27.91% of companies use UML.

42.68% use unit testing.

51.22% use both.

Now here's one for you - what percent of companies use UML *or* unit testing BUT NOT both?
