"Usually if the period is late and the woman is not pregnant, the cause is hormonal--she is not ovulating regularly for some reason. Weight changes and stress levels can disrupt the menstrual cycle; so can being peri-menopausel, taking some medications, and engaging in heavy exercise." — by Marjorie Greenfield, M.D.

somtimes you could still be pregnant even if you take the pregancy test. you have to go to the doctor and take a blood test because some people cant tell from the pregancy test. thats how me and my husband did it. the pregancy test can tell you your not. but the blood test can tell you for sure. and once i was about 3 weeks late and still wasent pregnant. so dont worrie.

well, i knew a lady that could ONLY test pos. if she was given a blood test. And at home tests are based on the amount of the pregnancy hormone, so it is posible to show only a faint coloration. I know because the same thing happened to me. and the test DOES say to test early in the morning, best right when you wake up. More than likely, you ARE pregnant. When your blood tests come back positive, accept my congratulations. I hope you have a girl.

I'm not a doctor, but can I say that if you have been over exerting yourself or you are run down, maybe after an illness or work related stress or problems, this can affect your body cycles. I don't know whether you can relate to this but if you are worried get checked up by your doctor if your situation will allow you

Have you come off the pill recently? When I came of the pill my periods went really irregular for ages and every month I kept thinking I was pregnant. The same thing happened to my friend - she was up to 20 days late at one point and then her period came.

I've randomly missed a couple periods in my life too (before ever having sex). Lots of things can do it:
stress
not enough sleep
change in diet
change in exercise program
new woman being around (new roommate or co-worker).

When did you take the test?
Maybe it's stress?
Or have you been sick?
On any medications?
