It is actually Indian women are more attached to jewelery. There are obvious reasons. Gold is considered auspicious to be worn. Second the value of Gold goes on raising. It is a good investment. Money on the other hand looses its value even if you are prudent unless you invest it on real estate or gold. Women in India are frugal in spending. They try to save every single pie they can lay their hand on. Whereas menfolk are extravagant and they will easily spend the money on unnecessary things. Secondly even rural women though not educated much they have got common sense. While their husbands looses money in gambling and drinking, ladies will toil much to earn a little for running the family and save a little too. These are all the main reasons Indian women are more attached to the jewelery. nagarajan.

What do you mean all over the body?
Most Indians merely wear necklaces and earrings, some wear nose studs and a few rarely wear other body jewelry and anklets. Just as in America, it is a sign of wealth, but it also has to do with custom in India. Many Americans are just as or more attached to jewelry.

if you mean people from India it mostly has to do with a wealth of the family or it could be a woman's dowry from when she married. There weren't always banks around and the best place to keep your precious possesions was on you.
