Depends on what season you plant him in. If you did it now, I wouldn't look for results until around May-June.

Might be a while. They take a long time to mature into true dopes in my experience.

Yes, it is six - eight weeks before you'll see results. Just make sure you plant him head down, like a flower bulb, with the tip of his toes still showing. And water daily.
