If you were in Iraq in 2005 and the day before the Secretary of State was to arrive in Iraq the PX mysteriously has 100 boxes of cuban cigars and three days later they' re gone what would you think? Diplomatic Immunity?
I mean it is illegal to purchase Cuban cigars since the embargo but its known that President Kennedy sent Pierre Salinger to stock him up before signing the embargo. Can you imaging Pres Bush puffing on ill gotten cigars purchased at the price of American soldiers lives. How callous would that be?

It's a silly embargo that should have been lifted years ago.

All the same, it is the law of the land and officials of the government have a moral obligation to obey ALL laws.

Of course, there's always the possibility that Condi smoked them all herseff before leaving Iraq :-)

Good grief. Now we are bashing Bush about cuban cigars?

Besides, the embargo against cuban cigars hasn't accomplished anything. Anyone who wants them can get them, can get them into the country and can smoke them on their back porch.

The cuban "economy" hasn't been hurt by it. The rest of the world went "What?" when it was announced.

Personally, I don't even like the ones I have tried so it was an exercise in futility.

But to sumarize: Now we are bashing Bush about cuban cigars?

It was Ted Kennedy who planned the whole thing. He became addicted to Cuban cigars back when Jack was in office. He planted a deep cover mole in Condi's staff way back when she first became Secretary of State and has just been waiting for this opportunity to restock his supply. Oh the callousness of Teddy (the great lifeguard) knows no bounds.

Not plausible you say? It's just as plausible as what you are inferring.

This is a bad bash. The President nor Condi smokes and to say they would take them at the cost of American soldiers lives is way out of line. They wouldn't have to 'take' them anyways, they can purchase them somewhere else. How you can blame Bush for what Kennedy did is taking the bashing to a new level!!

Kinda strange to bash Bush based on something Kennedy did.

For the record, it is NOT illegal to purchase Cuban cigars. It is illegal to bring them in the united states. (I purchased them in columbia, but I had to smoke them before I left).

And what kind of cigar did Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky enjoy together? I ask because you are apparently a cigar expert where politicians are concerned.

Maybe Condi and Georgie like to play the Bill and Monica game.
