I moved to new school a few days ago and i m finding it hard to make friends. There is this one girl who looks out for me and stuff, but she is friends with who you might call the cool people. I get the impression they dont really like me. They never really talk to me, but i suppose that is becuase i am too shy to talk to them. How can I come out of my shell? I am not shy with people I know. How do i get to know them better and get them to like me?

You need to take a deep breath and jump in. Relax, smile a lot, and say hello a lot. Make eye contact, look confident and become a good listener. Act truly interested in what other people are talking about, and mostly just listen. People want you to be interested in what they have to say. If you can become a good listener, you will be accepted by the "cool" people, unless they are shallow and realy un-cool.

How about just being your self? I'm sure the ice will melt when people see you are a nice person, and you might just become the most popular in the group. Don't sell your self short. Everyone has something to offer in this life, most likely so do you. Good Luck at your new school.

Samethin happened with me 2, but after some days they started talkin with me. With time they realised tht i was as imp. as others 2. Or u must tell ur teachers bout this problem. But the main thing is tht u shud be confident, bold enough to face this.

Sit at the same lunch table as them. And try not to look like you don't belong there. You don't have to say much. Just stick to eating your lunch and laugh when everyone else does.

Try and talk to other people that is the best way to make new friends.

Show yourself to be friendly and they will do the same. In order to make friends, you have to be a friend. Just be nice and be yourself. Soon, others will be drawn to you...

join a lot of groups/clubs and do a lot of activities.
try out for sports, if any interest you.
